Can you relate to this?

Can you relate to this?  For me, the love of trains started after coming out of diaper pants, whenever that was.  Well, I was quite young and maybe you were too, when we began to love trains.  This society we live in almost expects us to "grow out of" loving trains, wanting to experience them can actually result in being thought of as a criminal, crazy or even a terrorist. At the least, you are expected to be indifferent to trains and railroad activity as an adult.

At the age of 9 and 10, I wanted a train set, but not a choo choo train. Nope, I got a hold of an N set and used my allowance money to buy and build a small village where my trains could run through.  When I was a Grandma's house, I'd run to a bush where I would look south and get a view of the train tracks whenever I heard the horns and bells.

I have always had that under-the-surface love of trains throughout my adult life.  I would pull off the road and delay my trip just to experience a train.   When I came home from work at night, I'd stop just near the tracks, especially when the track light was green.  I would turn around and go back to the tracks if I heard the sound of a slow, lumbering locomotive.

Since the death of my husband, I have had my emotional struggles, on and off for 5 years.   I felt that God has led me back to trains, as I believe that He put trains into my blood and my DNA.  Through trains I have now met a friend at Waterford Avenue crossing who is both a church attending Christian and a train fan, like me. We have already taken our mutual love of trains to Indiana, where we had a wonderful weekend filled with trains.

The feeling I get when a train goes by is not "frothing" or "foaming" or wild craziness.  When a train goes by, it instantly changes my mood to joy and happiness. I feel exhilaration and a surge of electricity that flows to my limbs.  It's a washing away of everything bad that happened before experiencing the passing train.  A train is the best medicine that I can take.   This medicine brings me a happy mood that lasts for hours!

Many people secretly record trains. When I got a smartphone with a camera, trains were the Number One thing I'd record. This is what a lot of people who casually and secretly like trains do. I've met a lot of people who like shooting a passing train, keeping the video, then deleting it when they feel they're done with it. If this is you, and it makes you happy, you are not crazy or a criminal. Keep right on doing it! Your secret love of trains is something you should not be ashamed of, no matter how old you are or what gender you are, or where you come from.

You might have just stumbled on the best of medicines out there to bring you joy and exhilaration and a better mood to your life. So, enjoy the trains!
